Ottis Merle Windham, 73, of Providence, passed away at Brookwood Medical Center on Sunday, April 15, 2012. Ottis was a devoted deacon of Providence Baptist Church. He was ordained as a deacon in 1969 at Camp Hill Baptist Church. He loved his church family and his community. He was a very dedicated supporter of Oakman High School and served as a trustee for many years. A few of his favorite things were being the statistician for the Oakman Wildcat Football team, and watching his grandsons play sports. He was a dedicated husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be truly missed.

The family will receive friends today, April 17, 2012, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home and from 10 until 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church. Burial will be at Walker Memory Gardens. The Rev. JJ. Creel will officiate.

Windham was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Rosa Windham; brothers, Willard Windham, Hubert Windham and Chester Windham; sisters, Viva Hawkins and Ruby Patton; sister-in-law, Helen Windham; brothers-in-law, Robert Patton and Basil Hawkins; nephew, Sammie Joe Windham; and niece, Juanita Segrest.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marie Windham; daughters, Sharon Windham and Susan (Jason) Trotter; grandsons, Cody (Jennifer) Windham, Jase Trotter and Jonah Trotter; great-grandchild, Rylan Lily Susi Windham; sisters, Lora Reynolds of Trussville and Barbara (A.C.) Randall of Gallant; and a host of nieces and nephews and many special friends.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Bank of Walker County in honor of the Windham Scholarship Fund.
