More than 120 athletes on eight teams were at Jasper’s Memorial Park Natatorium Friday for the annual Special Olympics of Alabama sectional.

Top scorers at the event qualified to swim at the state meet in May. More than 400 people, including special-needs people from throughout Walker County, attended a pre-meet party Thursday night at the Natatorium.

Members of the Walker High School Anchor Club volunteered their help at the party and more than 20 Sumiton Christian School students helped during the meet on Friday.

The teams included Baldwin Gulf Shores, Exceptional Foundation, Shelby County, Tuscaloosa Paratroopers, Hoover Parks and Rec, Lee County, Decatur and Talladega Parks and Rec.
