Four girls, all representing Walker High School, will be participating.
The winner will compete in the Distinguished Young Women of Alabama program in Montgomery in January 2013. More than $100,000 in college scholarships are expected to be awarded.
Last year’s local winner, Ashten Duncan, won more than $2,000 in scholarships from the Distinguished Young Women program.
This year the local program will be giving away more than $4,000 in cash tuition scholarships.
There will be five areas of competition: scholastic, interview, talent, fitness and self-expression.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. They will be sold at the door and are also available from any Crescent Jr. Study Club member.
The contestants include:
Allison Leigh Hudson
Hudson aspires to a career in engineering or musical theater and plans to attend Vanderbilt University. She will be performing “Flight of the Bumblebee” in the talent portion of the competition.
Jessica Rae Sullivan
Sullivan wants to become a pediatric oncology nurse. Her preferred colleges are Samford University or Auburn University.
She will be singing “In My Own Little Corner of the World.”
Kelli Rae Brown
Brown would like to be a genetic counselor and hopes to study at either the University of Mobile or University of Alabama. She will be performing a jazz dance to “Crazy Little Thing Called Love.”
Sarah Barrett Elliott
Elliott is interested in a career as an orthopedic nurse practitioner. She plans to attend the University of Alabama.
For her talent, she will be performing “Sonatina in C.”
