Gretchen Renee Quave and William Kent O’Rear were united in marriage on Dec. 17, 2011, at Space 301 in Mobile. The Rev. Jeff Spiller from Christ United Methodist Church of Mobile officiated. A reception at Space 301 followed the ceremony.

The bride wore a soft ivory silk-taffeta gown designed by Pronovias, with a sweetheart neckline, chapel-length train, and accessorized with a beaded bridal sash. She wore an elbow-length veil with ribbon edge detail. The bride’s hand-tied bouquet consisted of white hydrangeas, white roses, stephanotis, pearls and rhinestones.

Gretchen is the daughter of Mark and Sheila Hughes from Picayune, Miss., and David and Susan Quave of Butler, Tenn. She is the granddaughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Leavins of Semmes, and Shadrack Quave and the late Vivian Lee Quave from Picayune. William Kent is the son of Julius and Amy O’Rear of Birmingham, and the grandson of Sanford and Pauline O’Rear of Jasper, and the late Dr. and Mrs. Charles M Gross of Mobile.

Matrons of Honor were Andrea Martin of Athens and Jenny Montalvo of Mobile. Bridesmaids were Lauren Holcombe of Daphne and Whitney Law of Mobile. The best man was Landon Davis of Chelsea, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Stuart O’Rear, brother of the groom, Daniel and Joseph Quave of Picayune, brothers of the bride, and Jake Beaton and Trey Galloway of Mobile. Claire Quave, niece of the bride, served as flower girl and Tommy Vandegrift, nephew of the bride, served as ring bearer. Matthew Atkinson was the violinist.

After a honeymoon trip to San Francisco and Napa Valley, Calif., the couple resides in Mobile.


Ashley Randolph of Huntsville and Trey Standeffer of Huntsville, formerly of Jasper, were married in a double-ring ceremony at 2 p.m. on March 26, 2012, in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

The bride is the daughter of John and Charlotte Randolph of Jasper. The groom is the son of Carla Standeffer and the late Gene Standeffer of Jasper.

The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her father. She wore a designer gown by Casablanca, the gown had a trumpet silhouette with ruched crystal chiffon over satin and beaded applique’ trim accent. She carried a bouquet of magenta Denrobium orchids.

A beachside reception was held following the reception.

After the wedding, the couple had their honeymoon at Sandal’s Resort in Montego Bay.

They are now living in Huntsville.



Jayden Taylor would like to announce the engagement of his mommy, Kasey Marie Taylor, daughter of Jeff and Brenda Taylor of Jasper, to Gregory Matthew Brown, son of Roger and Barbara Brown of Curry.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronal Jenkins and the late George R. Taylor, and Frances Baker Cameron and the late Craig Baker. She is a 2006 graduate of Walker High School and obtained her ASPT Certificate in 2008. She is currently employed with Solstas Lab Partners as a certificate Phlebotomy Technician.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Avery and Agnes Brown and the late Clifford and Iva Jean Sharit. He is a 2001 graduate of Curry High School and served in the United States Navy from 2003 through 2008. He is a 2009 graduate of Jeff State Police Academy and is currently employed as a police officer for the Jasper City Police Department.

The wedding will take place on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the Chapel at Honeymoon Hills in Gatlinburg, Tenn.

Tim and Patty Alexander of Cordova are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Brandy Jo Alexander, to Zachary Wayne McGehee, the son of C.W. and Susan McGehee of Jasper.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Jerry and Glendon Hyche of Cordova and the late Harold Sr., and Helen Alexander of Cordova.

She is a 2007 graduate of Cordova High School and is currently employed at West Alabama Dental Implant Center.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Doug and Barbara Richardson of Jasper and the late James and Judy McGehee of Minor.

He is a 2006 graduate of Sumiton Christian and a 2011 graduate of the University of Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He is currently employed with McGehee Engineering Corporation in Jasper.

The wedding will take place on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Huckleberry Farm in Jasper.

Don and Karen Bevill of Jasper announce the engagement of their daughter, Ashlon Breanna, to Mr. Kenji Reilly Schum, son of Reilly and Tomoko Schum of Madison.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Congressman and Mrs. Tom Bevill of Jasper, and Kathryn Patton and Luther Hendrix of Rainsville. Ashlon is currently pursuing a bachelor of arts in sociology with minor in French language from UAB and was recently accepted to UAB's fast track Master of Public Health Program in Health Care Organization.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Takayoshi Morimoto of Hyohoken, Japan, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Schum of Hamilton, Ohio. He graduated magna cum laude with bachelor of science in electrical engineering and minor in mathematics and will receive a master’s of science in electrical engineering in May. He is an employee of Revere Controls in Birmingham.

A July wedding is planned at The Botanical Gardens in Birmingham.
