Robert R. Odom III, 44, of Dora, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2012 at Smokerise Baptist Church with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hayden. The Rev. Tommy Swann and The Rev. Toby Shedd will officiate Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. today, May 3, 2012, at the church.

Odom was a 1986 graduate of Hayden High School and received a B.S. degree from Faulkner University. He was currently employed by Wilson Machine and Welding. He served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Smokerise Baptist Church for more than 20 years. His pride and joy were his children and grandson and he coached his children and many others at West Blount Park. He was an avid Auburn football fan.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert “Bubba” Odom Jr.

He is survived his wife, Michelle Odom of Hayden; children, Sgt. Haleigh Odom Worley (Michael) of Villa Rica, Ga., Heather Brooke of Hayden and Robert Blake of Hayden; grandson, Kaden Worley of Villa Rica, Ga.; mother, Sue Odom of Corner; stepmother, Barbara Odom of Hayden; sisters, Teri Vakil Mozaffari of Corner, Traci Hope (Michael) of McCalla and Tricia Odom (Greg) of Lakeview; brother, Ricky Odom (Tracy) of Corner; mother and father-in-law, Wanda and Lewie Edwards of Hayden; and a host of other relatives and friends.
