He was retired from Dunn Construction. He also played music with his own band and opened shows for the young Elvis Presley and many other stars while they were getting their start. He was also a disc jockey in Amory, Miss., and playing music was his first passion. Later in life he enjoyed drag racing his Mustang and going to car sales with his sons, Keith, Johnny and Burr and keeping all the people at the sales updated on how he was doing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Anna Allen; brothers, Verdo and Vodry Allen; and sister, Bea Parker.
He is survived by his wife who he loved very much, Rita Allen; daughters, Brenda Skalnik (Richard) of Warrior, JoAnne Stegall (Freddie) of Fulton, Miss.; sons, Keith Allen (Beverly) of Corner, Jeff Allen (Shannon) of Sumiton; grandchildren, Chris Key (Sandy) of St. Clair, Jamison Allen (Melissa) of Smyrna, Tenn., Justin Allen (Mallory) of Corner, T.J. Allen (Katlin) of Corner, Tiffany Flemming (Kareen) of Jasper, Tyler and Bryant Allen of Sumiton, Sammi and Nick Stegall of Fulton, Miss; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Robbie Allen, James Leon Allen; his special pet, Sadie and a host of friends.
