Tommy Payne Cagle, 66, of Jasper, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at his residence. Cagle was retired from the Alabama Department of Conservation with more than 30 years of service. He served as a game warden and marine police officer. He was a Vietnam veteran where he served in the Navy aboard the USS Yorktown and USS Hornet from 1966 through 1970. He was a Special Recovery Technician that assisted in the recovery of the Astronauts aboard the Apollo 11 and 12 moon landings. Cagle was also a member of the Smith Lake Task Force.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, May 17, 2012, at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 18, 2012, at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Barry Lombard will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Nita Sanford Cagle of Jasper; son, Joel Thomas Cagle of Castleberry; daughters, Rachel Faith Cagle of Jasper and Angela Michelle Cagle of Burlington, Ma.; mother, Betty Poe Cagle of Jasper; brothers, Donny Cagle, Paul Cagle and Patrick Cagle, all of Jasper; grandchildren, Brett Fialko, Kyle Fialko, Jeffrey Brom and Brittany Cagle; a host of nieces and nephews; and endearing friend, John Mark Williams.

The family request donations be made to the Smith Lake Task Force at Walker County Sheriff’s Office, 2001 2nd Ave., Jasper, AL 35501 in memory of Tommy Cagle.
