The park, in its fourth year of operation, is the home to weekly Pro-ET and Footbrake facing. Four times a year, I-22 Motorsports also hosts special Pro-Mod racing — a high-speed form of driving where speeds can reach close to 200 m.p.h.
According to Scott Tucker, co-owner of I-22 Motorsports Park, the track and the activities that surround the weekly events cater to a family atmosphere — where every age group can enjoy a fun day watching races. “It’s a great deal of fun for anyone who likes to experience the excitement that high-speed racing has to offer,” Tucker said. “With the Pro-Mod cars we’ll be racing this weekend, we hope to break the 200 m.p.h. limit, which has never been accomplished at our track. Overall though, we hope everyone simply comes out to enjoy the fun we have at the races.”
The Pro-Mod races bring competitors from Walker County and the State of Alabama, but also racers from Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Mississippi and Kentucky. The gates open at 2 p.m. on Saturday, with open trial times beginning at 4 p.m. Admission is $15, with children 12 and under being admitted for free. Concession and t-shirt vendors will also be available on site.
Tucker also said that future events being planned will be a special holiday extravaganza where a firework display will be performed on July 7. For more information on the Park and upcoming activities, visit www.i-22motorsports.net.
