Ann Fowler Pilgrim passed away on May 30, 2012, departed too soon from her loved ones after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Ann was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and daughter. She was born and raised in northern Alabama, she fell in love at first sight with husband Bill, and they settled in Richmond, Va. in 1955. She was an enthusiastic tennis player and gifted seamstress. She loved spending time with her family, and after retiring from a career at Crestar bank, she enjoyed long walks in Deep Run Park with Bill for many years. She was an exceptionally kind and generous spirit and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Ann was preceded in death by her mother, Ellen Fowler.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, William E. ‘Bill’ Pilgrim; children, Carol Ann Pilgrim (D. Kim Sawrey) and W. Brian Pilgrim (Carol N. Pilgrim); and grandchildren, Curtis Pilgrim and Kristen Pilgrim.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 4 p.m. today, June 3, at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd., where a memorial service will follow at 4 p.m.

Interment will be private.
