The Parrish Police Department is looking for a man who was last seen on June 8 near Levine Road. Ronald Joe Softley, 57, of Parrish was reported missing by his family on June 17, but no one has heard from him since June 8.

Each family member had believed Softley was staying with another, leading to the delay in filing the missing person report, according to police.

At this point, police are backtracking through the last 10 days in an attempt to retrace Softley’s steps. One of his brothers was the last to speak to him and no contact has been made with the family since June 8.

“He would have contacted somebody by now,” his brother John Softley, who works for the Walker County District Attorney’s Office, said.

Ronald Softley has health issues, including high blood pressure. He does not have a car, so he walks wherever he goes. Police are concerned that a combination of the weather and Softley’s medical issues could have overwhelmed him.

“Due to the heat, it wouldn’t take much to have some sort of health episode,” said Parrish Police Officer Roderick McConico, who is leading the investigation.

Ronald Softley is a black male, listed as 5-feet, 10-inches tall and weighing approximately 160 pounds.

Parrish police are asking anyone with information on Softley’s whereabouts or anyone who has seen him since June 8 to call Parrish PD at 205-686-9991.
