Jasper police are investigating the incident that happened at Carl Cannon Chevy Buick GMC Cadillac. Investigator Jimmie Vann said the suspects took tires and rims off 10 different vehicles, leaving them on concrete blocks.
“A customer called police after he came by the lot Sunday morning and saw the cars up on blocks,” Vann said.
A Carl Cannon employee said everything was normal at the lot around 9 p.m. Saturday, Vann said.
“This incident would have took place late Saturday night or early Sunday morning,” Vann said. “We are investigating the situation, checking any surveillance that is available and talking to people who may have seen something.”
Vann said he would call the suspects professionals, stating, “These folks are not going to be local.” He said similar incidents have happened throughout the country, including in the Atlanta area.
Jasper police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the thieves in this case. Vann said he expects the suspects were in larger vehicles with trailers.
“This happened very close to the new Love’s Truck Stop, and we are hoping maybe someone there saw something,” he said. “The car dealership is well-lit, and it visible from I-22. If anyone saw anything or has any information, we are asking them to call us.”
Anyone with information should call the Jasper Police Department at 205-221-2121.
