Michael Alan “Mike” Key, 56, of Dora, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2012 at his residence. He was a heavy equipment operator and mechanic for PCL Constructors. He was a member of Maryland Lodge No. 783 F&AM; past master of Sumiton Temple Lodge No. 892; a member of the Zamora Shrine Temple; the Birmingham Metro York Rite and Scottish Rite.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 18, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Byron Jones will officiate. Burial with Masonic honors will follow in New Horizon Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be today, July 17, 2012, from 5:30 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Reba Key; brother, Dean Key; sisters, Betty Williams and Mary Cole; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Johnny and Edith Bussey; and brother-in-law, Lloyd Reeves.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn Bussey Key of Dora; sons, Christopher Key and wife, Sandra, of Birmingham and Steve Smith and wife, Anna, of Sumiton; daughter, Kimberly K. McDonald and husband, Dennis, of Dora; grandchildren, Tiffany (Ryan) Pruett, Everett Smith, Susie Ferguson and Stone Smith; great-granddaughter, Taylen Pruett; brothers and sisters, Terry Key (Judy), Ray Key (Debbie), Joyce “Frankie” Sullivan (James), Charlene Reeves, James Larry Key and Sandra McClendon; several nieces, nephews, other family members; and a host of friends.
