Lynn Maggio, Mrs. Alabama America 2010, also works as television correspondent for several entertainment news programs. She spent Thursday in Jasper interviewing members of the cast and crew of “Thr33 Days Dead” in an effort to help promote the film.
“I learned about the film through social media,” Maggio said. “After watching the trailer and hearing the story about how hard these guys were working to make this movie, I had to come to Jasper to talk to them. I’m an Alabama girl, and I like to promote good things that are happening in Alabama.”
“Thr33 Days Dead” is a zombie movie that has been filmed exclusively in Walker County. The film’s director, John Ware, said principal photography on the film will end soon.
“We only have a few more things to shoot,” he said. “It’s taken us a while to film the movie, but we’re doing this all on our own. There’s no budget. This is all on us, and I’m very pleased with what we’ve been able to do so far.”
Ware said having Maggio helping promote the film is a blessing.
“She was so great to work with,” he said. “We loved hanging out with her, and we’re thankful that she wanted to come interview us.”
Ware said Maggio even agreed to shoot a scene for the film.
Maggio spends much of her time traveling between New York and Los Angeles interviewing various celebrities. She recently returned from an assignment at the Cannes International Film Festival in France. Maggio called Jasper as “nice change of pace.”
“This is such a wonderful place — it’s like Mayberry,” she said. “I’ve felt so welcomed here. I’m also amazed by the talent in Walker County. There are so many artistic and talented people in this area.”
Along with being television host, Maggio is also an actress, a singer/songwriter, a model and a spokesmodel. Her platform for Mrs. Alabama is adoption and she is the spokesperson for the Independent Adoption Center. Maggio has one adopted child, a 6-month-old daughter named Isabella. Maggio also has five other children, all boys, ranging in age from 17 to 3.
“I strive to promote adoption by using all my resources,” she said.
