Cracker Barrel is coming to Jasper.

Jasper Mayor Sonny Posey announced Tuesday afternoon that a deal had been finalized to bring the restaurant to Jasper.

“An announcement like this is monumental for this community,” Posey said.

Details about the restaurant are few, but Posey said he received an email Tuesday from Cracker Barrel corporate officials that confirmed the restaurant would be locating in Jasper just off Interstate 22 on Cannon Drive, adjacent to the Carl Cannon automobile dealership and near Love’s Travel Center.

“I received notification today and officials with Cracker Barrel were excited for us to make this announcement,” Posey said.

Full details about the construction and opening date were not available Tuesday.

“It’s signed, sealed and delivered now, and we will have an official groundbreaking and more details coming soon,” Posey said.

Finalizing this particular location has been at least a six-month process, Posey said. Getting a Cracker Barrel to Jasper has been an eight-year process, he added.

“We have worked on getting Cracker Barrel here my entire eight years as mayor,” he said. “Cracker Barrel has been a No. 1 priority. This is the one restaurant that has constantly came up when citizens have given their ‘wish lists’ for new businesses in our city. I am happy to make this announcement today, and the City of Jasper is looking forward to a long relationship with Cracker Barrel.”
