“We transform the CHS Building into a theatrical wonder,” Walker County Arts Alliance Executive Coordinator Beth Sargent said.
Sargent said she believed this was the seventh year for the event, which has included plays such as Nunsense and Rumors in the past.
This year’s featured show will be the Neil Simon play The Odd Couple. The 1965 play revolves around a pair of mismatched roommates, Felix Ungar, who is a neatfreak newswriter and Oscar Madison, a messy sportswriter. The two journalists begin living together following the failure of each’s marriage. The squabbles and trials of the two differing personalities created a legendary pairing and made the play popular enough to inspire several television series and movies.
Tables for the event can be purchased in three sizes: a table for 10 is $435, a table for eight is $360 and a table for six is $270. There are some individual tickets available as well for $37.50 each.
The ticket price includes the play, a catered dinner, access to the silent auction and a performance by Kool Katz jazz band. Tickets can be reserved, starting Tuesday, by calling 221-1711 or by going to the Arts Alliance’s office at 201 19th Street in Jasper. On Nov. 15, the doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will begin at 6 p.m.
“You really get a whole evening of entertainment and a great dinner,” Sargent said. “We sold more than 500 tickets last year, and we expect to sell out again this year.”
This year’s director is Eddie Brown and the co-chairs for the event are Mitzi McDaniel and Kristen Kiefer.
