JEMISON — Carbon Hill fell to 0-3 on the road Friday night, losing to Jemison High School 69-8.

The Panthers got the ball first, with Randy Satterfield returning the kickoff 60 yards to the Carbon Hill 17 yard line. After an incomplete pass from Jacob Hatch, Kevin King ran in from 17 yards out to put Jemison on the board. Carbon Hill’s first possession resulted in a three and out. The punt was returned by Satterfield 52 yards for a touchdown, bringing the score to 14-0.

Jemison would score on every remaining possession of the first half. King rushed it in from the 12-yard line.

Carbon Hill’s Ryan Simerly fumbled on the Bulldogs’ next drive, giving the ball back to the Panthers. Hatch hit Kortlin Zeigler from the 15-yard line. The extra point was missed, making the score 27-0. Another Carbon Hill fumble led to another Jemison touchdown, with Tyler Henderson running the ball in from the 19-yard line.

Henderson then ran it in for the 2-point conversion, making the score 35-0. Next Panther drive resulted in Hatch hitting a 21 yard touchdown pass to Zeigler again, but another missed extra point made the score 41-0.

After another 15 yard touchdown run by King, Jemison faked the extra point and Hatch hit Satterfield to bring the score to 49-0. Next Jemison possession resulted in a 55 yard run for a touchdown by John Underwood, bringing the score to 56-0 to end the half.

After a scoreless third quarter, Jemison’s Underwood ran in a 31 yard touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter. Another missed extra point made the score 62-0. Carbon Hill answered with another three and out. Jemison got on the board for the final time with a 66 yard touchdown run by Christopher Sanders, bringing their lead to 69-0.

Carbon Hill’s Steven Mitchell returned the ensuing kickoff to the Bulldog 49-yard line. After breaking loose for a 32-yard run, Mitchell caught the touchdown pass from Jacob Tempus with only 2:49 left in the game. Faking the extra point, Daniel Woodard hit Steven Simerly for the two-point conversion, cutting Jemison’s lead 69-8.

Carbon Hill’s Mitchell had 28 yards rushing, 27 yards receiving, and a touchdown. Woodard was 1 for 3 passing, and Tempus completed one pass for 27 yards and a touchdown. Tyler Kirkland intercepted a Jemison pass in the third quarter.

Jemison welcomes in Bibb County next week. Carbon Hill travels to Oak Grove.
