Lloyd Thomas “Tommy” Phillips, 64, of Sumiton, died on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012 at Bell Sumiton Chapel with burial in McCormack Cemetery. Bro. Bruce LeVan, Bro. Butch Morgan, and Bro. James Aaron will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 19, 2012 at the funeral home.

A great joy in his life was the time spent serving his country in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1972. He was employed for many years by Hill and Associates (McDonalds). Another great joy in his life was the time spent working in the dialysis department of UAB Hospital.

Preceding him in death were his father, Virgil Phillips; grandmothers, Nettie Beatrice Cooper Niblett and Annie Laura Roberts Tucker; grandfather, Dewey Herman Tucker; best friend, Jim Coston; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Survivors include his mother, Lois Phillips Myers of Jasper; brother, Bobby Phillips and his wife, Ava, of Empire; sister, Anne Phillips Willingham and her husband, Jeff, of Cordova; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and special friends April, Sabrena, Seriena, Tyler and Michael.
