Kevin and Heather Hall are the owners of Po Man’s Antiques & Signs, located in a little white building that sits near the intersection of Alabama Highway 269 and Aldridge Loop Road in Parrish.
“We’re old fashioned at heart and love antiques. We started collecting pieces a while back, little bit by little bit, in the hopes of someday opening up our own antique business,” Heather Hall said. “We’re not rich and we’re not trying to get rich. We try to sell the things in our shop at such a good price that other folks like us can afford to buy it too.”
Kevin Hall said every Friday and Saturday morning they hit the road and go to estate sales and flea markets all over north Alabama to see what items they can pick up and bring back to sell in the shop.
“I love picking, because you never know what you will find. I think we have some pretty unique pieces in our collection, and we do research on every piece we purchase.” Kevin Hall said. “When our customer’s purchase an item they also get a history lesson with it as well.”
The couple also offers a unique concept not often associated with small antique businesse — layaway.
“If you find something you want, but don’t have enough to pay for it right then, you can lay it away, just like in big department stores,” Heather Hall said.
“We also take a few things on consignment, we only collected 15 percent on our consignment sales.”
Kevin Hall also makes vinyl signs and car tags that are sold in their shop.
“We’re open every day except Wednesday, and we’re open a little later on Saturday than we are the other days, because we’re up and picking early Saturday mornings,” Heather Hall said.
