Top-ranked Marion County knocks off Lynn

Top-ranked Marion County rolled up 533 yards of offense as the Red Devils knocked off Lynn 42-18 at David Posey Memorial Field on Friday.

Marion County jumped out to a big halftime lead and never looked back as the Red Raiders won their 13th straight game.

The Red Raiders took a 14-0 lead after the first quarter. The first score came on an 80-yard pass from Sean Wallace to DeShawn Rebischel. Dorryl Swanigan added the second touchdown on an 85-yard run.

Wallace hit Rebischel on a 25-yard touchdown strike in the second quarter and Justin Sanderson added a four-yard run.

Lynn’s first score came on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Brody Meeks to Caleb Crowe to cut the gap to 28-6.

The Bears (4-2, 2-2) trailed 35-18 in the fourth quarter. Lynn scored on a Meeks 10-yard run and a Dakota Bell 8-yard run, but Swanigan struck for a 50-yard touchdown run to put the game out of reach.

For Lynn, Meeks had a huge game, totaling 487 all-purpose yards. He had 151 rushing yards on 19 rushes, 256 passing yards and a touchdown on 14-of-24 passing along with 80 return yards. Dakota Bell had a rushing TD on 11 carries for 38 yards. Ben Cagle had 6 catches for 86 yards. Crowe had 4 catches for 88 yards and a touchdown.

Lynn travels to Berry for a key region game next week.
