Della Motte Wilson, 77, of the Dilworth community, went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 7, 2012. She was born on Aug. 23, 1935, to Mary Magdalene “Lena” Motte and Thomas Henry Motte. She grew up in Coon Creek and graduated from Dora High School, where she was a member of the Beta Club. She married James Carl Wilson on Nov. 20, 1953. They resided primarily in Dilworth, and attended Dilworth Church of God for 52 years. She was the church clerk for 20 years, and taught Sunday school for more than 40 years. She also worked at the voting polls for 20 plus years.

She was preceded in death by her son, James Carl “Jimmy” Wilson Jr.

Survivors include her husband, James Carl Wilson; daughter, Rita Harris; grandchildren, Jennifer Wilson Perry (London) and Joshua Harris (Dusty); great-grandchildren, Emory, Madison, Audrey and Gage; siblings, Druscilla Jett, Irene Reeves, Lorene Reeves and J. D. Johnson; special sister-in-law and best friend, Barbara Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held today, Oct. 9, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Dilworth Church of God. The Rev. Nelson Kimberly will officiate. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to services.

Della “Granny” was a special person to many people and will be greatly missed by her community, church and family.
