With the sweep, Curry earned its 39th and 40th wins of the season.
The Yellow Jackets opened the day with a 25-18, 26-24 win over Lawrence County — ranked No. 3 in Class 5A — before beating Lynn — ranked No. 3 in Class 1A — 25-7, 24-23.
Against Lawrence County, Curry trailed 9-2 in the second set before putting together a rally. The Yellow Jackets led by as many as six points, but the Red Devils notched the score at 24-24 before Curry closed out the match with two straight points.
Chloe Bennett led an all-around effort against Lawrence County with 11 kills and one dig, Bretta Lane had three blocks, two kills and one dig, Mary Beth Scott added three kills, two digs and a block while Josie Walker had two kills and one block. Also for Curry, Jessie Bagwell had 18 assists and four digs, Payton Norris had 10 digs and an ace and Kendall Chance had seven digs.
Curry, ranked No. 5 in Class 5A, followed with their second straight win over Lynn.
For the Jackets, Lane had 10 kills and a block, Bennett had five kills, Bagwell had 16 assists, five aces, two digs and a block, Walker had six kills and four digs.Holli McGinnis had seven digs and two aces, Gabby Englebert added three digs and a kill, Jordan McPherson had three digs and an ace, Chance had nine digs, one kill and an ace and Norris had 14 digs.
Curry played in the Spain Park Invitational over the weekend, finishing in the top four after losing to Mountain Brook 25-18, 25-21 in the semifinals. The Yellow Jackets opened with a 25-16, 25-23 loss to Oak Mountain before defeating Homewood (25-13, 25-11), Prattville (25-21, 25-18) and Pelham (25-16, 23-25, 15-6) before falling to Mountain Brook.
Curry (40-9) plays a tri-match at Walker today against the Vikings and Winston County.
