Pinson Valley piles up points in rout of Curry

CURRY -- Pinson Valley scored early and often and pulled away from the Yellow Jackets in a 66-32 win at Hudson-O’Rear Field on Friday.

The Indians (4-3, 4-1) led throughout the game after scoring three touchdowns in the opening quarter.

By the time Curry’s offense starting clicking, the Yellow Jackets were 20 points behind.

Curry (1-6, 0-5) got as close as 42-24 early in the fourth quarter, but Pinson Valley scored 23 points over the final 10 minutes to put the game away.

For the second straight week, the Yellow Jackets got a big output on the offensive side of the ball.

Lane Oliver had two touchdown receptions, T.J. Pruitt threw a half-back pass to Jarrod Owens and also added a rushing touchdown. Owens added a receiving touchdown.

Quarterback Bradley Loggins threw a touchdown pass and also made a 28-yard field goal for the Yellow Jackets, who dropped their sixth straight game since beating Carbon Hill in the season opener.

For Pinson Valley, receiver Earnest Robinson, an Auburn committment, had three touchdown catches. Running back Aris Freeman added two touchdowns for the Indians.

The 66 points was the highest total for Pinson Valley since the team scored 69 against Mortimer Jordan in the season opener last year.

Curry plays at Moody (4-3, 2-3) next week.
