Unfortunately for Curry, Moody did all the scoring in between as the Blue Devils picked up a 33-15 region win over the Yellow Jackets.
Curry’s Bradley Loggins threw a pair of touchdown passes on the day, but it wasn’t enough as the Jackets dropped their sixth straight game.
Curry opened the scoring with Loggins connecting with Lane Oliver on a 13-yard score for a 7-0 lead.
Moody (5-3, 3-3) responded with a pair of first-quarter scores. The first came on a Dee Williams 2-yard run to cut Curry’s lead to 7-6. Moody took the lead for good when quarterback Michael Barron hit Doug Barnes on a 29-yard touchdown pass with 22 seconds left in the opening quarter.
The Blue Devils held a 13-7 halftime lead after a scoreless second quarter.
Moody’s Corey Clayton connected on a pair of third-quarter field goals, hitting from 29 and 35 yards out for a 19-7 lead going into the final quarter.
Moody put the game away with two touchdowns in the fourth. Devanta Vandergrift scored on a 20-yard run at the 11:27 mark and Williams added a 20-yard run with 1:52 remaining for a 33-7 lead.
Curry’s Loggins connected with Tyler Hill on a 54-yard score with 1:11 left. Loggins hit Oliver for the 2-point conversion to close the scoring.
The Yellow Jackets (1-7, 0-6) stay in Walker County the final two weeks of the season. Curry hosts Hayden, which knocked off Center Point 20-19 for its first win of the season Friday night.
