A variety of activities for infants through age 5 will be set up from 9 a.m. to noon at the Arc’s facility on Oakhill Road in Jasper.
Families can drop in at their convenience and can complete the program in approximately one hour.
“The parents will get feedback on where their child is developmentally, and they will also be getting information on different play activities and how they help a child’s overall development,” said Angela Washington, director of the Arc’s Early Intervention Program .
If a developmental delay is discovered, staff will be available to explain the appropriate service at the Arc that can assist the child.
“Books, Balls and Blocks” is free and sponsored by United Way’s “Help Me Grow” initiative as well as the Alabama Partnership for Children.
The Children’s Policy Council of Walker County, which is currently working on a blueprint to prepare all local children for school, also collaborated on the effort.
