Velma Lucille Guthrie Barton, 90, of Double Springs, went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 13, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services will be held today, Nov. 15, 2012, at 2 p.m. with Greg Blanton officiating the service at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Double Springs. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Double Springs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hanna Belle Blanton and Paul Blanton; daughter, Winona Hartley; brother, James Blanton; her first husband, Mancle Guthrie; her second husband, Homer Barton; and grandson, Brian Hartley.

She is survived by her son, Kieffer Guthrie (Tammy); sisters, Ethoda Elliott, Dois Elliott, Helen McCombs, Aleen Williams, Janice Ennis, Sue Mills and Christene Curtis; brothers, Johnny Paul Blanton and Rudean Click; grandchildren, Jason Guthrie, Chris Hartley, Derick Hartley, Allison Guthrie and Destinee Guthrie; several great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
