Melvin Hugh Brasfield, 86, of Quinton, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham. Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Oak Grove Church of Christ in Pumpkin Center prior to services. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Oak Grove Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Church of Christ in Pumpkin Center. Jerry Johnson will officiate.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie Anne Brasfield.

He is survived by his wife, Annie Jo Brasfield of Quinton; sons, Dr. Michael Brasfield (Darlene) of Jasper, Bradley Brasfield (Luajuana) of Jasper, Scott Brasfield (Stephani) of Tuscaloosa and Joe Brasfield (Dawn) of Tuscaloosa; and grandchildren, Justin, Ashlie, Tyler, Morgan, Mikenzi and J.P.
