Elbert B. “Ebb” Deason Jr., 80, of Meridianville, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012. Ebb came from a family of teachers and educators. He spent 54 years in education in Alabama and Tennessee. He was a member of the Winston County Sports Hall of Fame. He was an avid gardener. He loved football, baseball and basketball. He was a long time member of the Church of Christ and current member of State Line Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elbert Bryman Deason Sr.; and mother, Edith Jones Deason.

He is survived by his wife, Wadene Craig Deason of Merdianville; daughter, Amanda Jo Lofty of Huntsville; sister, Mildred Deason of Parrish, sister, Edith Short of Jasper, brother, John Pickens Deason of Parrish; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Owens Cross Roads Church of Christ. Services will follow at 2 p.m. with Bro. Bill Dorriety and Bro. Harold Kelly officiating. Interment will be in the Byrd Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Henry Bradley, Spooky Neal, Mike Leopard, Johnny Lee, David Thomaston and John Thomaston.

Honorary Pallbearers will all of the 1958 undefeated football team from Meek High School.
