Huey Junior Guthrie, 88, of Eldridge, went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 21, 2013, at his residence. He loved farming and his tractors. He farmed most of his life except when he served in World War II for his country.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to services and from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 22, 2013, at the Church of God of Prophecy in Carbon Hill. Donald Guthrie, Vernil Sides and John Billy Butler will officiate.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Huey Guthrie and Celesta Kilgore Guthrie; step-mother, Nina Kelly Guthrie; brothers, Thomas (Tom) Guthrie and Boyd (Buddy) Guthrie; and sisters, Louise Earnest and Ruby Westbrook.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Price Guthrie; sons, Larry Guthrie (Rickie) and Terrell Guthrie (Teanna) of Eldridge, and Gary Guthrie (Sarah) of Nauvoo; daughter, Elizabeth (Libbie) Hallman (Wes) of Eldridge; grandchildren, Tracy Guthrie, Kristie Brasher (Chad), Mark Guthrie, Tina Hartley, Andrea Guthrie, Chris Sullivan, Tracy Robertson (Alin), Mary Elizabeth Hallman, Wesley Hallman, Tiffany Guthrie and Tabitha Guthrie; great-grandchildren, Valerie Brasher, Ashton Brasher, Jessica Earnest (Stevon), Brittany Mills, Jaxon Guthrie, Katlin Browning, Lauren Brown and Madison Robertson; a host of other relatives; and talking and trading friends.
