Despite playing just one game over the last week the Parrish Tornadoes moved up one spot to No. 4 in the Class 1A state basketball rankings released by the Alabama Sports Writers Association on Wednesday.

Due to the threat of icy road conditions, Parrish had a pair of games postponed last week. The Tornadoes lone win was a 78-46 rout of Curry in the Walker County Basketball Tournament on Tuesday.

The Tornadoes take on Oakman at 4:30 p.m. Friday in their next game at the county tournament.

Parrish also has a busy week following the county tournament. The Tornadoes have canceled Monday's game against Oakman. Parrish hosts No. 6 Marion County in a key matchup on Tuesday. The Tornadoes host county rival Dora on Thursday, play at Cordova on Friday and travel to Dora on Saturday.

St. Jude (18-5) continues to hold the top spot in 1A followed by: Keith (16-8) and Collinsville (21-2).

Parrish isn't the only area team ranked in the poll.

Lynn stayed put at No. 5 in the girls 1A rankings this week.

The Bears picked up their third straight Winston County Tournament title over the weekend, beating Addison in the championship game. Lynn (21-1) has won 12 straight games heading into today's home matchup against Berry.

Both Carbon Hill basketball teams are among other teams receiving votes. The boys are 15-7 on the season while the girls have an 18-5 record. Dora's boys are also listed with a 13-6 record.
