Deacon Herron Dean Jr., 72, passed away on Jan. 19, 2013, at his home in Montgomery. He was born on July 21, 1940, to Herron and Mary Elizabeth Dean in Aldridge. He spent his young life in Parrish, where he attended Walker County High School. He moved to Montgomery to continue his education at Alabama State University where he met his wife of 47 years. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Science, he worked for over thirty years as a teacher for the Alabama Public School System.

Mr. Dean was a longtime member of the Hutchinson Missionary Baptist Church where he was a Deacon. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, spending his leisure days enjoying his many grandchildren.

He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife, Walter Marie Dean; five children, Marie Dean (Leviticus), Mary Davis (Gerald), Herron Dean (Sherri), Shirley Aiken (Andre) and Charles Dean (Keisha); a brother, Charles Dean of Parrish; two sisters, Claudia Potts of Parrish and Shirley Crockett of Akron, Ohio; aunt, Dorothy Edison; uncle, Julius Williams; grandchildren, Gerald Davis Jr., Jacques Dean, Justis Davis, Walter Dean, Jalen Davis, Javier Dean, Kailyn Dean, Aryian Dean, Alanna Aiken, Andree’ Aiken, Kamron Dean and Christian Dean; four nieces and one nephew; three special cousins, David Atkins (Birdell) of Parrish, Spencer WIlliams (Virginia) and Julia Mae Fuller; extended family, the Perry’s and Ameedah Shareff; and a host of other devoted relatives and friends.
