Members of the Jasper Police Department’s Critical Incident Response Team executed a search warrant on the downtown Jasper home at approximately 10:30 a.m. Friday.
Robert Anthony Pye, 26, of Jasper was arrested and charged with first-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. James Henry Butler III, 42, of Jasper was also arrested and is being held under a failure to appear warrant, but drug charges are also expected to be filed against him. There was also a woman and three children children inside the home at the time the search warrant was executed, but not charges were filed against the woman.
Jordan Beard, an officer with the special operations task force at JPD, said several complaints of drug activity from area residents led police to obtain the search warrant on the home.
Jasper Police Chief Connie Cooner Rowe commended the work of the Critical Incident Response Team while addressing the Jasper City Council at a work session Friday afternoon.
“These men did an outstanding job while executing this search warrant,” she said. “This group is an asset to our department and to our city. They are dedicated and hard working. I’m extremely proud of their work.”
