Shelby will speak at the Arley Public Library at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20, and later that afternoon, the senator will speak at the Walker County Courthouse inside the meeting chambers of the Walker County Commission.
That town hall meeting is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
The town hall in Jasper is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of Walker County.
“We are proud to have U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby once again visit our county to address issues concerning our area,” Chamber President Linda Lewis said. “We hope that area residents will be able to attend this briefing to thank Sen. Shelby for his assistance in helping to fund and support various projects in our county.”
At each town hall, Shelby is expected to address the legislative agenda for the first session of the 113th Congress as well as important issues facing the nation and the State of Alabama. Following his remarks, Senator Shelby will open the floor to questions and comments from those in attendance.
“Over the years, these meetings have provided an excellent opportunity for area residents to listen and voice their opinions on the activities of our government,” said Shelby. “This will be a great chance to discuss the important issues facing our state and our nation.”
The Walker County town hall meeting will be Shelby’s 1,777th county visit since his election to the U.S. Senate in 1986.
