One local doctor wants to make sure that no one forgets what happened that day.
Dr. J.P. Donahue, a dermatologist in Jasper, and his staff will be wearing shirts remembering the 26 victims of that day every Friday.
“Personally the killing of these children and teachers was profoundly disturbing for me,” Donahue said. “I have been very morose and disturbed about this for some time. We’re doing this as a memorial to those people whose lives were so terribly destroyed.”
Donahue has also had more than 1,000 "Broken Heart" buttons printed to give away to anyone in the community who wants one.
"They don't have to be my patients," Donahue said. "We just want people to come together. This is just too horrible an event for people not to remember."
