Walker falls to Mortimer Jordan

MORRIS — Walker jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but it was all Mortimer Jordan after that as the Blue Devils earned a 55-37 victory over the Vikings in the Class 5A, Area 14 Tournament championship game Monday night.

Next up for Walker is a road trip to top-ranked Wenonah in the sub-regional round of the playoffs at 7 p.m. Friday.

Wenonah (29-2) edged Parker 61-59 for the Area 13 title on Monday.

Mortimer Jordan closed the opening quarter on a 15-2 run for a 15-6 lead after the opening quarter. The Blue Devils (22-6) got points from six different players in the opening quarter.

Mortimer Jordan padded its lead in the second quarter and led 27-15 at the half. The Blue Devils led by double digits the rest of the way, taking a 39-27 lead into the final quarter.

For the Blue Devils, Ben Hardiman led a balanced offensive attack with 12 points and six blocks while Mark Louis had nine points and eight assists and Dalton Hudson added eight points.

Walker (6-16) was paced by Jonathan McCants, Denzell Daley and Michael Bridges with seven points each. Riley Graham, Matt McKay and Kenyatta Woods each had four points while Stephen Duncan added two.
