The Carbon Hill City Council held a special called meeting Saturday morning to repeal the city’s employee handbook.

“We just did away with it,” Mayor James “Pee Wee” Richardson said. “We will do a new one.”

Richardson said the city will now work to revise the handbook.

“There was some stuff in it that we needed to redo,” Richardson said. “There wasn’t anything that specific. We just wanted to change some things. There were some things in the back of it that needed to be moved to the front. It just needs to be redone.”

Richardson said himself, members of the council and the city’s attorney will work on the revised handbook.

“We had some employees that didn’t even have a handbook,” he said. “I didn’t know it existed until not too long ago. It’s something that we need to look at and improve. Then we will make sure every city employee has one.”
