Glenda Jean Jackson, 71, of Jasper, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at her residence.

Funeral services will be today, March 24, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. at Collins-Burke Chapel. Burial will follow at Old Pisgah Cemetery in Carbon Hill. Visitation will be today, March 24, 2013, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home. Rev. Belinda Freeman and Rev. Ron Gilbreath will officiate.

She was the owner of Dolly Dears from 1982 until the present date. The joy of her life was doll collecting, traveling and attending gospel singings. She graduated from Howard College with a BA degree, was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. Jackson taught second grade at Rocky Ridge Elementary School for 20 years in Birmingham. She was a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Birmingham. He love of doll collecting associated her with the Madam Alexander Doll Club where she served on the board of directors. She was founder and officer of Doll Retail Association, member and Judge of International Doll Academy and member and judge of DOTY=Doll of the Year.

She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Glenn Jackson; mother, Mildred Lynn Allison Jackson; grandfathers, Lacy Bowman Allison and Houston Jackson; grandmothers, Nettie Ola Crawford Allison and Dollie Miller Jackson.

She is survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends and will be missed.

Pallbearers will be Jared Prestridge, Thad Sherer, Mike Allison, Chris Ergle, Alex Vildibill, Tom Hulse, Banyon Allison and John Mark Abercrombie.
