Bevill State will join community colleges across the nation this April to celebrate National Community College Month. The college will host a community celebration on Thursday beginning at 4 p.m. in Jasper, Sumiton, Fayette, Hamilton and Carrollton. The public is invited to attend.

The afternoon open house will feature a reception, entertainment and information about attending college. Students will have the opportunity to visit with advisors and register for summer term classes. In addition, a College 101 financial aid seminar will be held at 6 p.m. The seminar will include sessions on how to financially manage a college education, frequently asked questions about financial aid, and help with filling out the federal financial assistance forms (FAFSA).

"The College 101 financial aid seminar is a great opportunity for parents, high school seniors and any other interested individuals to learn more about the financial aid process," said Dr. Kim Ennis, Dean of Students. "The seminar is open to anyone interested in attending college, regardless of where they plan to attend."

Jasper’s event will be in the Wade Math and Science Building and the Nicholson Library. Sumiton’s event will be in the Tom Bevill Business & Industry Building 1400 cafeteria.
