City park opening May 25

PARRISH — The Parrish Town Council voted unanimously to hold the grand opening celebration for the Parrish Municipal Park on May 25 at Tuesday afternoon’s meeting.

The celebration will include the official ribbon cutting ceremony, as well as family-oriented activities such as inflatables and a movie that will be shown on the grounds after dusk. The park’s splash pad will also be open for operation and live music will be performed during the celebration. Vendors will be allowed to set up on the baseball field, at a cost of $15 for an unpowered booth and $25 for a booth with power.

In other action from the meeting:

• The council recognized and expressed their gratitude for District 14 Rep. Richard Baughn for his donation of $500 to the Parrish Library and Resource Center.

• A motion to join the Walker County Chamber of Commerce and pay membership dues of $125 per month passed unanimously.

• Commended the efforts of the Parrish Police and Street Departments for their professionalism and efforts in the community.

• The town’s street, police, fire and park director reports were presented.
