HTNA, formerly Amtex, first located in Jasper in 2011. The company is in the middle of a $27 million expansion in the city. Kazuo Moriya, HTNA’s assistant project manager, said Tuesday said the company’s locating in Jasper has an extremely positive experience.
Moriya said local economic officials, David Knight, of the Walker County Economic Development Authority, and David O’Mary, of the Jasper Industrial Development Board, played a pivotal role in HTNA originally locating in Jasper.
“They are wonderful people to work with,” he said. “They won over our company’s leaders with their personality and charm as well as with their hearts.”
The company’s experience in Jasper since 2011 is what led to the expansion locating here as well.
“Jasper is a wonderful city to locate our facility,” he said. “We did not hesitate in our decision to locate the new expansion here.”
Moriya said the city’s location was also a determining factor.
“Jasper is between Birmingham and Tupelo,” he said. “That puts us in the perfect location for the Toyota plant. Jasper is also ideal to Honda in Lincoln.”
The workforce in Walker County was described as “excellent” by Moriya. The company currently has 71 employees. HTNA is expected to add 25 to 35 more employees within the next year. Moriya said 95 percent of the Jasper facility’s employees are from Walker County.
HTNA in Jasper currently provides products for Toyota.
“We provide the full-floor carpets for Corolla models,” he said. “If you go to Scott Crump here in Jasper and look at a Corolla, that carpet was made here in Jasper.”
The facility will soon start constructing full-floor carpet for Honda Pilots.
Moriya said HTNA is also a good corporate citizen.
“We are in Jasper, and we want to be a part of the community,” he said. “We want to help the community in any way that we can.”
