The Nauvoo Car Show has been an annual event for the past 18 years, and organizer Gene McDaniel is expecting great weather and a big crowd for this year’s event, which will be Saturday.

“This is a day that we look forward to every year," McDaniel said. “We’ve always had a lot of entrants, and we can't wait to see how many come out this year. We are expecting at least 150.”

The car show, which is sponsored by the Nauvoo Historical Society, will be one of the first guest appearances for the newly crowned Miss Alabama Chandler Champion, who was crowned Saturday at Samford University’s Wright Center. Miss Walker County 2013 Allison Farris will also make an appearance at the car show.

“We have a long history with Miss Alabama and Miss Walker County,” McDaniel said. “They always come to the car show. We are usually Miss Alabama’s first big appearance.”

Registration for the car show is set for between 8 a.m. and noon Saturday. Participants may also pre-register by sending a $20 check or money order to the Nauvoo Historical Society, P.O. Box 157, Nauvoo, AL 35578.

Participants should also include their name, address (city and zip) and vehicle information.

The car show is open to cars, trucks and tractors. A shirt and dash plaque will be given to the first 150 registrants. Participants will also be entered into drawings for door prizes and cash giveaways. Chances on a 50/50 pot will also be sold.

McDaniel said food, drinks and ice cream will be available for purchase at the event. He said vendors are also welcome and should contact Nauvoo Town Hall at 205-697-5890 for more information.
