Mary Ellen Myers Fendley, 73, of Dumfries, Va., and Davenport, Fla., passed away on July 9, 2013, at Sentara Potomac Hospital in Dale City, Va. She was born on Sept. 11, 1939, to Charlie E. and Elzie V. Myers of Nauvoo.

She was the beloved wife of James M. Fendley for 41 years. She was the loving mother of Michael S. Estabrook, stepchildren, Teri Muller and Cari Lofton and the late David W. Estabrook and Sheri Fendley. She was the adoring grandmother of Emily and Kyle Muller, Colby, Jeremy and Casey Estabrook and great-grandmother to Laken. She is also survived by her sister, Catherine Myers Woodruff of Philadelphia, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Barbara Ann Myers; and her brothers, Clayton, Bobby, Wayne and Franklin D. Myers.

Ellen worked many years for the U.S. Department of State, traveling to many foreign countries in relation to her work with Aid to International Development. In retirement she was an avid tennis player and enjoyed traveling to every state in the USA with her husband in their RV. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

A Life Celebration and Remembrance will be held at Old Zion United Methodist Church on Alabama Hwy. 5 in Jasper on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at 11 a.m. with interment in the adjoining cemetery.
