Sherry Gwyn Yocum Panter, 53, of Carbon Hill went to walk the heavenly streets of gold Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham. She loved life, the Lord, her family, friends and was a Crimson Tide lady. She was a fighter and an inspiration to many during her numerous health problems. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Carbon Hill Church Of God Of Prophecy. The funeral service will be held Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the church with Brother Frankie Keen officating the service. Burial will follow in the Smith Chapel Cemetery in Carbon Hill.

Panter was predeceded in death by her parents, Travis C. Yocum Sr. and Valora Ann Yocum; brother, Alan Yocum; brother-in-law, Stanley Panter; and niece, Laura Ashley Rose Yocum.

She is survived by her husband, Clevis Panter; daughter, Alisha Montgomery; step-daughter, Brandy Panter; three grandchildren, Alex Ralston, and Haley and Kaley Montgomery; sister, Debra Thomas and her husband, Nooney; brothers, Travis C. Yocum Jr. and twin brother, Gary Yocum and his wife, Cindy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
