Oakman’s high-powered offense was clicking on Friday night.

That spelled bad news for Francis Marion.

Oakman quarterback Jase Trotter completed 16-of-20 passes for 235 yards and four touchdowns as the Wildcats bounced back from last week’s region loss with a 54-6 victory over the Rams. Trotter also added 60 rushing yards.

The Wildcats, who have opened the season with three straight road games, also got a huge game from running back Chris Austin, who rushed 27 times 239 and two touchdowns.

Oakman took control from the start, scoring on its first possession. All of the Wildcats’ offensive weapons got into the end zone. Deontre Muse had a pair of receiving touchdowns, Quinton Harris had two touchdowns — one rushing, one receiving. Purvis Coger also had a receiving touchdown and 90 receiving yards.

Defensively, Ashton Gay had seven tackles, Hunter Williams, T.J. Trawick, Caleb Woods each had four tackles. Coger, Harris and Jody Green each had interceptions and Brandon Davis recovered a fumble.

Francis Marion entered Friday’s game with a perfect 2-0 record.

Oakman lost to Lamar County 28-19 last week.

Oakman (2-1 overall, 1-1 in 2A, Region 4) hosts R.C. Hatch next week in the home opener at Hosea Collins Field.
