The accident happened on I-22 near the Moon Road overpass, said Jasper Fire Chief David Clark.
About 100 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled, and a large amount of oil and fuel left a trail for about a quarter of a mile along the interstate.
Officials shut down I-22 for about eight hours because of the spill, backing up traffic for approximately two miles.
Hazmat teams and the Walker County Emergency Management Agency were also on the scene to handle the fuel spill, and officials with the Alabama Department of Environmental Management were notified and will evaluate the situation.
Jasper firefighters were on the scene for about eight hours, Clark said.
One person was transported by ambulance to Walker Baptist Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life threatening.
Alabama State Troopers and Jasper police also responded to the scene and had to deal with the major traffic issues caused by the wreck.
