In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Walker Baptist Breast Center is offering mammograms for $100 each Monday in October. The “Mammo Monday” discount on routine screening mammograms saves the patient up to $225.

“Offering this Mammo Monday special is a way the hospital recognizes Breast Cancer Awareness month,” said Kay Laney, director of imaging services for WBMC. “The Mammo Monday special makes it more affordable for women without insurance to get their initial mammogram.”

We hope this program will encourage women to be proactive in their breast health. With mammography, women can detect breast tumors up to two years before they can be felt in a self-examination, according to the American College of Radiology.

According to Laney, additional images may be required if anything suspicious is discovered in the screening.

According to the American Cancer Society, women who are over 40 years of age should have a mammogram each year.

Laney said patients need to have an order from their physician to have the routine mammogram performed.

The Walker Baptist Breast Center offers women fast, comfortable and accurate breast cancer diagnosis with the latest technology in digital mammography.
