The Tigers took the ball first, and scored on the opening kickoff, Josh Tarwater returned it 82 yards for the score. Dora answered quickly, capping off a three-play drive with a 12-yard run by Charles Clay to tie the game.
Dora’s next possession saw the Bulldogs fumble on the Tiger 5-yard line. After Oak Grove was unable to produce points, Dora’s Darius Davis scored on a 34-yard touchdown run. Spradlin ran in the fake extra point for a 15-7 score.
Oak Grove rebounded with a 27-yard touchdown pass from Austin Lawrence to Tristan Hines to bring the Tigers within a point.
On the ensuing kickoff, Caleb Grayson failed to make the catch and the Tigers fell on it. Three plays later, Lawrence hit Daniel Murkerson for a 28-yard touchdown pass to take the lead, 21-15.
Dora scored again two plays later as Kenton Petties took the pitch and ran it 47 yards to give Dora a 22-21 lead. Both teams traded touchdown runs, included a 73-yarder by Ki’Juna Babbs, to make the score 29-28 at half.
After a slow start to the second half, Dora struck first with a 1-yard run by Babbs. The extra point attempt failed, making the score 35-28.
Two plays later, Lawrence hit Teandre Watson for a 50-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 35.
Within the first four minutes of the fourth quarter, both teams scored again with Jacob Twilley running in a 48-yard touchdown for Dora and Austin Lawrence throwing his fourth touchdown pass of the night.
After both teams failed to produce points, Dora began marching. After getting the ball to the 5-yard line with three seconds left, Dora’s young kicker came in to kick the game winner.
Babbs finished the night with 135 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Logan Ledbetter only went 3 of 4 for 94 yards through the air. Dora committed 13 penalties for 120 yards.
Dora returns home next week to host Jemison in region play.
