The Hope After Loss Organization will host its Wave of Light candle-lighting ceremony for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.m.

The ceremony will be held in the Jasper First Baptist Church Prayer Garden on 4th Avenue.

“Everyone is welcome to attend as we take this time to remember our babies,” group organizer Brandi Woods said.

Woods founded HALO after she and her husband, Matt, suffered the loss of their son, Jaxon almost five years ago.

The group meets once a month on the second Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Walker County Schools Health Services Building. The group provides memory boxes to local hospitals in an effort to help ease the loss of mothers who lose babies.

They decorate the boxes and include baby clothes, a handprint kit, a teddy bear, a keepsake for the moms, literature on loss and resources and a disposable camera in case the parents want to take pictures of their child. The group is now providing boxes for Walker Baptist Medical Center and Princeton Baptist Medical Center.

They also sell T-shirts and cookbooks as fundraisers to help provide materials for the boxes. The group also has a Facebook page listed as H.A.L.O. or can be reached by phone at (205) 275-6459.
