Investigators from the Walker County Sheriff’s Office are working to identify a body found early Friday in a pond off Aaron Road near Jasper.

The body was that of a white male with numerous tattoos, and there was no identification on the body.

According to Sgt. Ralph Williams, residents in the area called to report something floating in the pond.

The sheriff’s office responded, realized it was a body and called in Walker County Coroner J.C. Poe.

Poe said the body appeared to be a man in his late 20s or early 30s who had likely been in the water for a few days.

Williams said he and other law enforcement officers canvassed the neighborhood in an attempt to determine the identity of the man, but still had no leads as of press time.

The body has been sent to the Department of Forensic Sciences in Huntsville to determine a cause of death as well as a possible identification. Anyone with information regarding the case should call Williams at (205)302-6464.
