The Parrish Tornadoes (3-0) put together their most complete game of the early season Friday, defeating the Sulligent Blue Devils 81-28 at the Haleyville Thanksgiving Tournament in Haleyville.

Barry Hill secured his second consecutive double-double with 23 points and 18 rebounds, adding six blocks to lead the Tornadoes. Denzell Daley followed with 17 points, Isaac Chatman had 16 points and eight rebounds and Reginald Harris contributed with 10 points.

After sluggish efforts in the initial two days of the tournament, Parrish coach Heath Burns was pleased with his team’s play and focus against Sulligent.

“Before the game, we talked about our contests against Haleyville and Hatton — how we were not playing with the type of tempo and execution we know we’re capable of. We needed constant speed on offense and defense and to make sure that if Sulligent scored they would have to do so on the run,” Burns said. “Our guys just got out and executed well today — we had great guard play, all of whom did a great job in feeding the ball to our guys in the post. It was a great team effort and a superb team win.”

The Tornadoes established command in the first period, jumping out to a 27-9 lead.

A remarkable 18-1 scoring run in the second period allowed Parrish to take a 45-10 edge into halftime.

The Tornadoes continued to roll in the third period, outscoring the Blue Devils 24-14, with Parrish remaining on top, 69-24.

Parrish held Sulligent to just four fourth-period points en route to the 81-28 final.

The Tornadoes host Class 5A Hueytown in their home debut on Monday.

DeCari Swain led Dora with 15 points, Darian Ramsey had 14 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks while Kenton Petties added 12 points and Tyler Sims put in eight.
