A new local ministry will host its first fundraiser this weekend.

Proceeds from “All that Jazz,” which will be held Saturday from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Community Health Systems Activities Center in Jasper, will benefit River of Living Waters United Methodist Ministries.

Jazz band The Marcus Williams Trio will perform. Light refreshments will be served. Tickets are $25.

The new ministry is a merger of three United Methodist congregations — Christ United and Durr’s Chapel, both in Jasper, and Rice Chapel in Oakman.

Church member Cheri Swetnam said the congregation will worship in the same service but will continue to maintain three separate buildings.

Current and planned ministries include Celebrate Recovery, Wednesday night Bible Study and a community food bank.

“We’re maintaining three campuses so we can work our ministry in three different areas and reach more people,” Swetnam said.

The first service for River of Living Waters United Methodist Ministries is scheduled for Jan. 5.
